Students begin to ask questions and make connections to information. Vocabulary continues to develop through exposure to a variety of informational text, including how to follow a recipe, information about people, places, animals, science and social studies topics.
Students continue to explore patterns in phonological awareness, phonics, print awareness through blending onset and rime and blending phonemes. Students begin to write letters based on sounds they hear at the beginning of words. They continue to make new letter/sound associations and make connections to writing and the writing process. Students continue to compose a variety of texts, to include lists, informational books, letters to friends, recipes, and writing words found in the classroom.
